Despite the title being a steal from the Alison Krauss album, this is actually a blog about books and other new favorite things.

Baby Socks

Miss Messy hair knit two pair of socks for Zane, the green pair fit now, he will have to grow some more to wear the yellow pair.

My Mom is making working from home possible. So far, everything seems to be going smoothly.

It's a boy!

And this time it isn't a pet. Zane was born on April 19th, the date the doctor tells me was the due date caluclated at the original ultrasound. We had a second ultrasound at 16 weeks that calculated the due date on the 15th of April, and well... the 15th sounded better to me. Anyway, he is here, we are home, and life with a newborn is much better than I remembered it to be. We think he is a real cute boy with many possibilities.

It's a girl!Gizmo is a 12 week old boxer that came to live with us on Friday! Posted by Hello
You can see the baby wrap that I am knitting in the background. Gizmo loves settling by my feet and cuddling up with the knitting bag. She is a really quiet puppy until it is bedtime, then she cries a lot. We are trying the Elmo doll tonight. Hopefully something soft and furry to rest on will help her not be so lonely.

Really, I am knitting...

More than ever actually. I just need to get some pics posted of my progress. Currently in process:
  • Baby Blanket
  • Baby Kimono
  • Baby Booties ( not for my kid though )
  • What I would really like to make right now is a small felted purse with green fiz at the top for Easter "Grass" to look like an Easter basket. It's time to visit Char at the Unraveled Sheep!

    Baby Names

Rosemary Wells has been kind enough to provide the two names that I would choose for small Wee-wah (our current moniker for unborn child). Now I just need to convince Jeff that he would like these names also.

    XML, Yarn, Websites, and Food

It's been said that women are great multi-taskers, but I have found out lately that I can't multi-task the things I need to do and want to do. For example, I need to read up on XML for a work project, but I want to knit a baby blanket. Research reading and knitting don't multi-task together. Same with knitting and eating. I am hungry almost all of the time until 4:30 p.m. but it turns out that knitting and eating don't mix well either. Hmmph. I am going to get the next book club book, Falling Angels, on tape so that I can knit and "read" at the same time. There are just so many projects that need to be completed before small child arrives.

Rant: Why is it that when anyone learns that you have a LOT to accomplish before a big deadline (say a vacation or childbirth) that they have a huge need to add to the list? "I know you are really busy getting everything done before you leave for the Andes, but I NEED you to make sure you do X before you go." Does the same thing happen to someone who learns they only have months to live? "I know you are trying to connect with loved ones and that you are really stressed about dying, but before you die next month I really need you to train your replacement and finish the Arbuckle account."
