Everyone is taking pictures...
Perhaps the largest obstacle to taking a picture of a national monument is that EVERYONE is trying to take the same picture. Or a different picture, but of the same monument. Regardless, the monument at the site of the Oklahoma bombing provides a quiet and thoughtful place to wonder about violence and peace. How do we think we can attain peace through violent acts? When does agression lead to understanding? Does retaliation ever bring two peoples closer together? It defies my understanding. How is it that a man running for President does not want to be anti-war because it would be seen as weak? I have so many questions that are not satisfied with the rhetoric of political answers.
I just finished a book in which the main character had a t-shirt with the saying "Doomed to Repeat It" across the front. That saying, along with the "I'm with Stupid" mentioned from Fluke, both seem to withstand the smoke test: "When the smoke clears, the shirt is true. You have to hold on to the truth where you find it."
